In the month of February the Culinary Arts Club will be hosting a Valentine's Day goodies sale. We will be selling mini cheesecakes, cupcakes, cookies, cookie cakes and/or cookie sandwiches. The flavors of cupcakes will be limited to chocolate,vanilla and red velvet. The colors are limited to pink, white, and red. The last day to place orders for Valentine goodies will be February 7th. All orders MUST be picked up from Shattuck Februrary 13th no later than 2:00p.m.

During the last two weeks of February the Culinary Arts Club will be selling cinnamon buns(cinnabons) by the dozen. All the proceeds from the sale will benefit the Battered Women's Shelter.More details will be posted closer towards the event.

Meet-n-Greet was very successful again this year. We would like to thank everyone who participated. We appreciate all of your dedication to this club.

On behalf of the culinary club I would like to thank the Fall 2007- Spring 2008 officers. Y'all did a great job. We would like to especially thank Jermarra Jones, who has been our president for the last three years. Thank you JJ for all the work you have put into make this club what it is. You don't know what your dedication has meant to this club. We are sad to loose you as our president. May God bless you as you graduate in May and leave everyone at the W.

Everyone have a great summer. We can't wait to see everyone back in the fall!

Culinary Students:
Mississippi University for Women’s Culinary Arts Club stands out from the many other clubs at the W. We are a unique assembly of people with a deep hunger for food and an even bigger passion for fellowship. The current officers and members of the Culinary Arts Club take great pride in the organization and would like to present you with the chance to become a part of such an outstanding group.
As a member of the Culinary Arts Club, you will have the opportunity to be involved in many different aspects of the culinary field including fundraisers and educational field trips. In past years, the club has ventured off to a Sugar and Chocolate Workshop at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee, participating with the local Relay for Life, as well as catering the Susan G. Komen luncheon and this is just to name a few.
We are in the process of working to expand our membership and it would be a great pleasure to have you as one of our members. On behalf of the Culinary Arts Club, we would like to personally extend an invitation to you to join us on Friday, April 25, 2008 for our Third Annual Meet and Greet. This event will take place on the front lawn of Shattuck Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It will be an event full of food, exciting games, and lots of fun.

Spring semester 2008

We are very excited about this coming semester. We started off the semester with recgonizing our graduating seniors at 100th night. 100th night is held on the 100th day until graduation. All the clubs on campus recgonize their graduating seniors. This is a very special night for all graduating seniors. We recgonized Jamarra Jones- Presdient, Jennifer Oliver-VP, Leslie Beach-Treasurer, and Johnna Emerson- member. We are going to miss these three girls and all they do for the Culinary club.

We have many projects and events that we are planning. We will be doing a knife skills demonstration on March 29 and April 7 both will be held from 12-2 p.m. We are also helping Campus Recreation with an event on February 22. We will be demonstrating how to grill a fruit kebab.

March 10 we will be helping the SGA with a fundraiser to raise money for a new middle school. I will have more information on that when I get it.

Of course spring semester means Homecoming is coming up. We are in the process of planing an event for our alumn's. Homecoming is on April 19. I will have more details soon.

We are also getting ready for our 3rd annual Meet N Greet. Meet N Greet will be held on April 25. More details coming soon!

Welcome back to the W! We are very excited about this upcoming year. Our first meeting will be on Sunday, Sepetember 9 at 7:00pm. We hope you can all come!

Here is a little summary of the things our club did toward the end of last semseter.

April 14- Mississippi State Food Festival The club participated with a sweets stand. We sold Blueberry Muffins,Chocolate Cupcakes, Banana Nut Muffins, Cinnamon Rolls, Peanut Butter Cookies,Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Sugar Cookies. We did great in sales! Event time10-2

April 18, the club donated cupcakes, cookies, andmuffins to the Palmer Home for children.

April 21- Homecoming Alumni Sweet Treats The club set up an array of sweets (Lemon Tarts, Apple Tarts, Varietyof Cookies, Tea, Coffee, Mini Cheesecakes). We served, greeted, and tookpictures with alums. Gave tours, and handed out several packets of information.Event time 1-4

April 24- New Tshirts came in. They are still on sale for everyone $15

April 27- 2nd Annual Meet~N~Greet A lot went on! There were two raffles: Ipod- Laura won and a $25 Walmart gift card- Courtney won. The club gave away awards ofappreciation to honor the four faculty members and Ms. Cheryl. We also gaveaway an outstanding member award for participation to Ebony Knight. We servedhot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, rotel, icecream sandwiches,and an assortment of drinks. We played several games including a pie throw atthe officers, floursaver, egg toss, Who Am I?, Guess the #, Culinary Charades.

May 2- End of the Year Dinner Tonight the club took out the officers and members that wanted toshare with us to a feast at Rueben's Restaurant. It was fun.

New business

We will be participating in the MSU Food Festival it’s April 14 from 10 a.m.-12p.m. If you volunteered for this event please make sure to come! The money that we raise with be very beneficial to the club. If you were not at last weeks meeting and are free to work or prep for this event please contact JJ.

We are ordering Meet & Greet shirts, The design is still in the works, but the t-shirts are only $10. If you will be working this event you need a shirt again please contact JJ with your shirt size.

We are also excited about the raffle we will be holding at Meet-and-greet. We will have an Ipod and a 25$ gift card to Wal-Mart that Doc was kind enough to donate for the function.

The weekend of Homecoming we will be honoring the alumni from the culinary department with the Alumni Sweets Event. This will be held on April 21. Prep work for this event will be done on the 20th. This is a very important event, make sure you are there! Officer Nominations will be held on April 13th. You must be present in order to be nominated for an office. Elections will be held the day of Meet and Greet.

Because of Food Stylings Week we will begin making the map, posters and flyer's for Meet and Greet. This starts Monday March 26 at 5p.m. Everyone who can be at Shattuck to help needs to be.

Instead of getting a team together to participate in Relay for Life the club is donating $100.00.

Please do not forget that club pictures are this Wednesday, March 7 at 3:00 in Shattuck Hall. Please wear your culinary club t-shirt and nice blue jeans. This will not take long so please show up!

The Golden Girls event was canceled.

We have Meet-n-greet on April 27 as well. This will be a great opportunity to get more people interested in culinary club. This event will be held from 1:00 - 4:00. All club members need to come and help with this event. Club elections will also be held at this event for the following year.

Our Club

The purpose of the Culinary Club is the expose the minds of all students, especially those Culinary Arts majors and minors, to the world of Culinary Arts through bonding activities of community and campus service and the different avenues that this profession has to offer.

We have been lead this year by Jemarra Jones, our president, Aubree Peek, our vice president, Courtney Adams, our secretary, Sam Mills, our treasurer, Hallie Woodward, our public relations rep, and Jennifer Oliver, our cheerleader. Dr. Jim Fitzgerald has been our faculty advisor starting this semester. Our regular meeting time is on Sunday nights at 8:00 p.m. in Shattuck Hall room 111. This was the time that the club saw best fit to meet.

The requirements for membership into the culinary club are as follows.
1. Must be a currently enrolled at MUW student with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
2. Officers must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
3. Officer elections are held in Spring Semester: terms run from spring to spring
4. Open to all majors.
